Nissan continues expansion into Saudi Arabia, appointing new leadership in the Kingdom


Samir Cherfan is new Managing Director, Nissan Saudi Arabia, adding to existing responsibilities in Nissan Middle East, Dubai, UAE: November 9th, 2014 - Samir Cherfan, Managing Director of Nissan Middle East , has been appointed Managing Director, Nissan Saudi Arabia. The Japanese automaker has ambitious plans to grow its market share in the Kingdom.


In the 2013 financial year, Nissan also announced a highly ambitious plan for the Saudi Arabian market . This included a goal of tripling sales volume and market share. The target is to reach unit sales of 100,000 and claim a 12 per cent market share by the 2016 financial year.


Says Cherfan: "Nissan is committed to offering exceptional service in Saudi Arabia and it has developed a strategy based on a direct local presence, strong product line-up, and enhancing the brand along with retail experience and top-level quality customer service."


Cherfan will split his time between the Nissan's regional headquarters in Dubai and the office in Saudi. The new state-of-the-art joint venture premises in Saudi Arabia will be staffed with 80 to 100 people to service market needs.


Nissan Middle East is committed to a regional mid-term plan with a volume sales increase of 100,000 units and a market share growth of 5 per cent.

By the financial year of 2016, the Japanese auto giant intends selling more than 256,000 units and capturing a 14.5 per cent slice of the market.

"Achieving the goals of the Nissan Middle East Mid-Term Plan is highly dependent on the success of the revival plan for Saudi Arabia," says Cherfan who joined Nissan Middle East a touch over two years ago as marketing and sales director and assumed the role of managing director in April 2013.


"Therefore, an integrated management for Saudi Arabia and the region is paramount for Nissan to achieve its objectives."


Meantime, Kazutaka Nambu, currently managing director of Nissan Motor Egypt has been appointed vice president, sales and marketing Africa, Middle East and India. He will also continue his current role.
