Saudi importation of transportation, machinery and equipment on the rise

Saudi importation of transportation, machinery and equipment on the rise

In the KSA’ Ministry of Finance website, it describes the data of imported Machinery & Electrical Equipment, and Transportation Equipment from year 2000 to year 2012 steadily increase. Given the trend, we can say that it will be more from 2013 to end 2014.  Obviously, machinery and electrical equipment are far higher than transportation equipment in terms of monetary value because of the high cost of purchase and importation of equipments (light and heavy) which are used in construction, oil related works and activities in the kingdom.

However the data does not show exactly the details of the equipment and machinery as to its type, category, application and quantity.

Cars and Delivery Trucks  at the highest importation point

In another statistics conducted by Observatory of Economic Complexity of the Massachusets of Institute of Technology ( http://atlas.media.mit.edu/profile/country/sau/) about Saudi Arabia it shows that CARS AND DELIVERY TRUCKS earned highest points in goods imported by the kingdom from countries like China, US, South Korea, Germany, and India. This definitely exclude machineries and equipment for the construction, and oil and gas sector.
It is no wonder why the number of cars stolen also increases as will be related in the next paragraph. Since the number of cars in the kingdom increases the demand for spare parts also increased which is for some people is an opportunity for business selling spare parts from stolen and disassembled cars.

More Statistics Report
